A cylinder blast during a Seemanta ceremony in Kanavi Hosur has left six people seriously injured, transforming a moment of joy into a tragedy for one family. The blast occurred at the home of Basappa Pakkirappa Adiyar when the family attempted to address a gas leak. As they approached the cylinder to shut it off the explosion caused severe injuries to six members of the family.
The injured have been identified as Manjula, Shekhavva, Lakshmavva, Sharanappa, Shivu, and Nirmala. They were rushed to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi and GIMS Hospital in Gadag for treatment. Of the six, five remain in critical condition at KIMS due to severe burns and smoke inhalation. Doctors have stated that the next 24 hours will be crucial in assessing their recovery, as the inhalation of smoke has damaged their lungs.
The tragedy has cast a dark cloud over the family’s celebration, as the blast occurred at a time when they were eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new life. The family and community are struggling to come to terms with the shocking turn of events with authorities urging families to exercise caution when handling gas cylinders in their homes.
