The Karnataka Bandh called and headed by Vatal Nagaraj on Saturday, March 22, is expected to witness a lukewarm response in Hubballi as several organizations have decided not to support the protest. North Karnataka Autorickshaw Drivers’ Association president Shekharayya Mathapati confirmed that autorickshaw drivers would continue their services citing the ongoing exam season.
Meanwhile, the North Karnataka Lorry Owners’ Association and construction workers’ association, and other trade bodies have also distanced themselves from the bandh ensuring that routine activities in the city remain uninterrupted.
Despite the limited response, a symbolic protest is planned by the Karnataka Sangram Sena. Its chief, Sanjeev Dhummakanal, announced that a rasta roko would be staged at Chennamma Circle as part of the demonstration. A memorandum outlining their demands will be submitted to the government through the tahsildar.
