Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) presented its budget for the financial year 2025-26 despite protests from opposition members. The budget was presented by Chairman of the Standing Committee on Taxation, Chandrashekhar Managundi estimates a revenue of Rs 15,12.67 lakh and expenditure of Rs 14,93.60 lakh, with a projected surplus of Rs 30.78 lakh. Key objectives include a GIS survey and a garbage-free city.
Opposition leader Rajshekhar Kamati attempted to speak before the presentation, but was overruled by the Mayor and ruling party members, leading to heated arguments and protests. Opposition members stormed the podium, shouting slogans, but the budget was read and passed by a majority vote. Mayor Ramappa Krishnappa Badiger adjourned the session after the budget was approved.
